Simulations and tests have been done with a radar system using Calterah’s 6T6R Lancang-USRR SoC with Antenna in Package (AiP) in in-cabin scenarios to evaluate its point cloud stability, angular precision, detection and classification accuracy, coverage, and application functionality.
With target SNR changes and inter-channel imbalance being simulation conditions for a 4T4R radar system and a 6T6R one, simulation results showed the multi-channel system is way more resistant to environment changes and offers detection results ten times more precise than those of systems with fewer channels.
Another test is done with a 6T6R mmWave radar using Calterah SoCs installed on the roof above front seats. The highly-concentrated point clouds raise the confidence level of the basic CNN model used, bringing a 100% accuracy of baby detection in front footwell in 200 consecutive frames. In some corner cases, like an empty vehicle being shaken, the data spectrum is clear and recognizable.
