The European Commission aims to halve road fatalities by 2030. After having published the GSR covering active safety features, the industry focus shifts to passive safety systems. For instance, EURO NCAP’s Vision 2030 highlights seatbelts, adaptive restraints, and occupancy as key factors in protecting occupants and reducing injury severity. In this talk, we will present shortcomings of current passive safety systems, and how driver and occupant monitoring systems can help in overcoming these challenges. Furthermore, we will present practical examples of such implementations, which emotion3D has been developing since 2021.
