L2+ driving automation now equips over 55% of new passenger vehicles in China, reshaping both driving and safety. As system complexity grows, so do the risks of inconsistent behavior in challenging conditions. In response, Chinese regulators are developing new safety standards for ADAS, aiming to constrain the functional performance of L2 systems, strengthen detection and response capabilities under edge-case scenarios, and elevate the safety and quality of ADAS systems. The associated performance requirements will be similar to those seen in FMVSS 127 and Euro NCAP 2026. Additionally, consumer testing, such as the recently released DCAR ADAS testing, is raising awareness of safety and performance expectations for ADAS systems.
Physically accurate sensor simulation offers a scalable, regulation-aligned solution. Unlike generic simulation models, these replicate the full signal chain from environment to AI perception, enabling OEMs and Tier 1s to test edge scenarios virtually. Using Ansys’ AVxcelerate platform, this talk showcases workflows for L2+ camera validation, early sensor development, and alignment with regulatory KPIs.
Attendees will learn how virtual testing accelerates compliance, reduces cost, and enhances safety in the evolving ADAS ecosystem
