Approaching sleep and fatigue analysis from a different angle with RADAR systems

Presentation

SAT has developed a patented set of solutions able to precisely predict on-the-fly the sleep onset (e.g. 1–8
minute alarm advance timing) of a subject through the analysis of few selected physiological parameters and,
more generally, monitor the fatigue. The processing of vital signals is performed on the edge without any
need for cloud connection.
Additional functions are under evaluation such as on-the-fly the sleep scoring, which is important to
appropriately respond to a takeover request (TOR) of the automated vehicle at any time, and the precise
prediction of micro-sleep events.
Such a solution is “sensor agnostic” and can run both on contact (wearable) and contactless (RADAR) systems,
to effectively address existing heavy-duty applications and new OEM applications.
The RADAR system for human sensing and in-cabin monitoring solution is under evaluation with fleets of
heavy-duty trucks and public transport in Europe and Australia.
In this talk, we will present the key concepts and some relevant results with both 60 GHz and 120 GHz RADAR
systems.
