Presentation

As vehicles become increasingly connected, in-cabin technologies are evolving to better
enhance both safety and wellbeing. This presentation will explore how automakers can advance
Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Occupant Monitoring Systems (OMS) with innovative
software features that detect and mitigate risks such as drowsiness, distraction, and stress.
Dr. Kevin Lu, Senior Director of Ready Care at HARMAN International, and Dr. Nicola Gerrett,
Director of Thermophysiology Research at Gentherm, will discuss how integrating real-time,
contactless vital sign sensing with vehicle systems—like seats, HVAC, sound, and lighting—can
create a closed-loop intervention system. This enhances driver engagement, safety, and
personalization while meeting evolving Euro New Car Assessment Program (NCAP)
requirements.
Attendees will gain insight into how these advancements not only improve road safety but also
transform the in-cabin experience to better align with current consumer expectations for
intelligent, personalized in-cabin experiences that cater to every individual’s comfort and
wellbeing.
