Closed-Loop Health & Wellness in the Vehicle Cabin

InCabin

USA

Presentation

The vehicle cabin is evolving from a passive comfort space into an environment that actively supports occupant health and mental performance. Carmakers are starting to use ambient lighting, massage seats, soundscapes, and climate programs that create preset wellness experiences. However, these systems do not measure how the occupant is actually responding.
This presentation examines the next step: closed-loop systems that continuously sense stress, fatigue, and cognitive state, then adapt the cabin in real time. Emerging contactless sensing technologies capture physiological signals without wearables or intrusive cameras. Machine-learning models interpret these signals, enabling dynamic adjustment of lighting, audio, temperature, seating, and other cabin features.
Use cases include automated driving scenarios where the vehicle helps occupants relax, regain focus, or manage fatigue. Implementation challenges, including privacy, integration, and validation, will also be addressed.
