About Chad Lin

Dr. Chao-Hung (Chad) Lin is the Global Head of Automotive Sensing Technologies at Dexerials Corporation, where he leads the strategic development of advanced optical component solutions from a system level point of view to overcome the fundamental physics barriers of next generation sensing. He was previously with the Advanced Camera Development Team at General Motors (GM), where he defined all optical specifications, led the development for the entire camera suite across all vehicle lines and major programs, and identified next generation technologies for GM. From an autonomous driving (AD) system level perspective, his scope of responsibility encompassed the total optical path extending beyond the camera module to include glazing, cover lens, lens coating, filter, image sensor packaging, cleaning solutions, and system level optical performance for Ultra Cruise, Super Cruise, Surround View, E-Mirror, and In-cabin sensing systems.

Prior to GM, Dr. Lin held technical leadership roles at Harman and Visteon, directing the optical engineering for Digital Cockpits, Driver Monitoring Systems, and HUD systems. His development background includes automotive CMOS image sensors (CIS) at OmniVision, waveguide based AR-HUDs at DigiLens, LED headlamp systems at Truck-lite, and camera optical zoom lenses at A-optronics. He holds a PhD in Photonics and Optical Sciences, with a career focused on solving fundamental hardware bottlenecks across the entire system.
