An explosion of new technology and discussion
After the great success of the InCabin USA 2024 event and the valuable feedback from our community, we are taking InCabin back to Huntington Place in Detroit, 10th-12th June 2025.
We will be bringing to Detroit an explosion of innovations and discussions centered around in-cabin technologies, focusing on safety, comfort, and convenience for both current and future vehicles. We are thrilled to present the world’s first event in Detroit, delving into driver and occupant monitoring systems, sensor innovation, AI integration, HMI advancements, acoustics, lighting, cockpit design, and other pivotal elements that shape the automotive experience of tomorrow.

Auston Payyappilly
As a seasoned professional in the automotive industry, Auston currently handles Product Management for Cockpit & ADAS ECU/vehicle computers for the North America region. In this role, he actively collaborates with OEMs to integrate cutting-edge technologies and E/E architecture concepts into our products, thereby introducing innovative features that translate into production wins. Responsibilities span platform and product requirements definition, business development, program management, and leadership in the preparation of RFI/RFQ responses and proposals.

Javed Khan
Mr. Javed Khan is the President of Software and Advanced Safety and User Experience, a position he has held at Aptiv since August 2024.
In this role, Mr. Khan is responsible for leading the Advanced Safety and User Experience business unit, the Global Product Organization, and Wind River, a global leader in software for the intelligent edge. The integration of this business portfolio allows his organization to develop – with the extensive use of AI/M – cloud-native scalable software and hardware technologies, enabling the global transition towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs.)
Mr. Khan is known for his ability to develop scalable software platforms and drive innovation and collaboration. He is a recognized speaker on the future of mobility, work, business transformation, sustainability, product development, and technology architectures.
Before joining Aptiv, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Collaboration, where he oversaw the multi-billion-dollar business that includes the award-winning Webex product portfolio. His leadership was pivotal in modernizing the Webex experience, especially during the global pandemic, which saw significant growth in remote work technologies.
Prior to his tenure at Cisco, Mr. Khan was the Vice President of Enterprise and Consumer Security products at Symantec, where he enhanced security products at scale. He began his career as an engineer at Novell Networks, moving into escalating leadership roles at Symantec.
Mr. Khan holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Loyola University and a Master of Business Administration from the Anderson School of Management at University of California, Los Angeles.

Martin Krantz
Martin Krantz is the CEO and founder of Smart Eye, one of the world’s leading developers of AI-based eye tracking technology and driver monitoring system software. Guided by his vision of bridging the gap between humans and machines, Martin contributes his 25+ years of experience to automotive innovation and a growing number of research projects, leading to new insights and technological advancement. Recognized on Bloomberg’s 2021 list of 50 Global Leaders, Martin is a world renowned expert in eye tracking and its commercial applications.

Dr Maureen August
Dr. Maureen August is a Lab Group Manager for General Motors Research and Development. She graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as an Engineer Officer in the United States Army. She has deployed to Nicaragua for hurricane recovery and commanded a company in Iraq. After leaving the Army, Maureen worked as a Senior Systems Engineer developing the Joint Test and Evaluation Methodology for Joint Forces Command. Before moving to General Motors, Maureen served as the Director of Curriculum for the Army’s Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness Program. In this capacity she was responsible for the education and training of Soldiers across the Army focused on performance, energy management, and resilience. Dr. August was also selected as the Program Manager for the Special Operations Cognitive Enhancement and Performance Program which adopts the principles of sports and performance psychology to provide mental skills training for Special Operations Forces. These skills focused on teaching human biorhythms, sleep science, energy management, attention control and memory improvement. This training was critical for elite Soldiers to remain adaptive and ready during high stress training and deployments. At General Motors, Maureen has worked in as a human factors expert in Safety, a capture manager for GM Defense, and now works with her team on biosensing, information display, and simulation. Maureen holds an MS in Engineering Management from Missouri S&T, an ME in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and completed her PhD in Systems and Engineering Management at Texas Tech University.

Benjamin Lyon
Benjamin Lyon is senior vice president and chief technology officer of Aptiv, a position he has held since December 2022.
In this role, Mr. Lyon is responsible for ensuring that Aptiv remains at the forefront of emerging and disruptive technology trends and prioritizing longer-term technology and business model opportunities in mobility and adjacent markets. In addition, Mr. Lyon is responsible for the technology leadership of the global engineering organization, which includes more than 19,000 technologists located in 12 major technical centers across the globe.
Mr. Lyon has over two decades of experience in senior engineering, developing technology, commercializing products and executing program launches at leading technology companies.
Most recently, Benjamin served as Chief Engineer and Executive Vice President of Engineering and Operations of Astra Space, Inc. since 2021. In this role, he successfully deployed 22 satellites to low Earth orbit (LEO) and launched the Astra Space Engine Hall-Effect thruster product line.
Before that, Benjamin served at Apple Inc. for over two decades, developing and productized sensors, displays, high-performance compute, and safety / security critical technology for scale. While at Apple, he also cofounded their autonomous systems effort.
Mr. Lyon received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Susan Shaw
I lead and plan usability research through a variety of methodologies such as clinics, focus groups, surveys and more. I specialize in ADAS and Driver Information US research at this time, but have a background doing customer experience, usability, and human factors/ergonomics research as well. I’ve worked in everything from the medical device industry to consulting across the globe before landing in the automotive field.
I’m passionate about making things easy to use and getting people to use them as they are intended! My goal is to make our vehicles easy to use while being safe and fun to drive. I also love dessert and following a recipe to get the intended results…a delicious treat!!

David Mitropoulos-Rundus
Dave has made his career designing products to fit people. He has designed physical, visual, and auditory user interfaces for hand-helds, kiosks, web sites, production machines, and automobiles, and has conducted user research in the lab, on the web, in the field, in cars, and in the homes of consumers. Dave has worked for a broad range of companies which include General Motors, Eastman Kodak, Compuware, ForeSee, and Quicken Loans (Rocket Mortgage). Dave is currently focused on the design of infotainment, cluster, and vehicle connected services and their touch points beyond the car via web sites and apps at the Hyundai American Technical Center. Dave is a frequent presenter, has taught user research and design courses at conferences and colleges including University of Michigan and the College for Creative Studies. He is a chapter author of, “Design by People for People: Essays in Usability” and co-author of, “Checklist for Expert Evaluation of HMIs of Automated Vehicles—Discussions on Its Value and Adaptions of the Method within an Expert Workshop”. Dave’s contributions to the profession include the ongoing direction of the Internet User Experience conference (iueconference.com), mentoring students and professionals in the field, a former board member of the International UxPA, and a co-founder of Michigan chapters of ACM SIG-CHI and UxPA.
