About Frederik Diederichs

Dr. Frederik Diederichs is a Senior Scientist in Human Technology Interaction. Since July 2021 he works on Perceptual User Interfaces and Advanced Occupant Monitoring Systems at Fraunhofer IOSB. Before he has been managing the Fraunhofer IAO Vehicle Interaction Lab since 2013. He publishes and speaks in the field of user research, human factors, future driving experience, AI-driver state monitoring and driver intentions. Frederik has been involved in applied research and development projects with most vehicle manufacturers and Tier1, and he is collaborating with the leading research institutes in Europe in order to drive the future to enjoyable and safe mobility experiences. Currently he co-coordinates a large public funded research project with German OEM, Tier1 and SME about the use of AI inside the vehicle cabin. Alongside his work as full time researcher, he also worked on his PhD thesis in a project with Bosch, BMW and Technical University of Munich. He presented his Engineering-PhD thesis on driver state detection and driver intentions in 2016 and holds a Master Degree in Psychology from 2006.
