| Professor Michel Valstar is a co-founder, Chief Evangelist, and Chief Scientific Officer of BLUESKEYE AI, and an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham. A leading expert in machine learning, computer vision, and facial expression analysis, he is the second most-cited researcher in Social Signal Processing (SSP), with over 200 peer-reviewed publications and 21,000+ citations (h-index 58).
In 2014, Professor Valstar coined “Behaviomedics”—using automated affective and social signal analysis to aid medical diagnosis and treatment. He co-founded BLUESKEYE AI in 2019 to commercialise this research, delivering ethical, accessible face and voice technology to measure mental health and well-being. His pioneering work has featured across top global media, including Science Magazine, The Guardian, and BBC Panorama’s Beyond Human. He holds a PhD from Imperial College London and previously served as a Visiting Researcher at MIT Media Lab. |
