About Joanne Harbluk

Joanne leads research in the Human Factors and Crash Avoidance Division, Multi-Modal and Road Safety Programs, Transport Canada. Current work is focused on human interaction with automated vehicles both inside and outside the vehicle with the goal of improving safety.

She is active in national and international projects as a Canadian site lead and Human Factors advisor, in international collaborative projects supporting the development of ISO standards (ISO TC 22 SC39 Human Vehicle Interaction) and in other projects contributing to the development of guidelines, standards and regulations. She participates on several Transportation Research Board committees related to automated driving and is a steering committee member for several scientific conferences.
