Generate Euro NCAP-ready in-cabin data with Anyverse simulation and synthetic data

Anyverse will showcase Anyverse INCABIN, a web application purpose-built for the simulation and synthetic data generation behind Driver Monitoring (DMS), Occupant Monitoring (OMS) and Child Presence Detection (CPD) systems. It features a scenario library pre-aligned to Euro NCAP and the major safety frameworks, so teams can generate — at scale — the sensor-specific, labelled data and digital twins they need to train and validate in-cabin monitoring systems.

 

As a leader in physics-based synthetic data and sensor simulation, Anyverse lets engineering teams test virtually and cover every scenario before committing to costly physical trials, delivering more robust systems and a faster, de-risked path to compliance.

 

Anyverse will also introduce its recently launched Virtual Assessment Implementation Program (VAIP), an execution-focused program to implement the Euro NCAP virtual assessment framework for in-cabin monitoring systems, closely tracking the Euro NCAP VTA working group as it defines the 2029 standard.

A New Approach to Occupancy Detection & Classification

Growing regulatory and consumer demands around improving safety for all occupants is requiring OEMs to rethink their Occupancy Detection and Classification solutions. For years the same weight and force sensors have been used to determine presence, but they are no longer good enough to meet the new benchmarks. At the same time OEMs believed that in-cabin cameras and radar would be able to replace them. However, evidence is showing that radar is too unreliable and too difficult to integrate. The industry are actively looking for a new approach.

 

In Q4 2025 BMW ran an independent study to review 4 different in-cabin sensors solutions. The study included 96 different occupants, sitting in various positions. BMW invited Brighter Signals to be part of the study which involved evaluating our technology against three established Tier 1 solutions. 

The conclusion is that camera plus Brighter Signals tactile seat sensing is a winning combination. The Brighter Signals technology uses tactile data of human interaction with the car interior surfaces to infer occupancy detection, classification, and position. The BMW test results, show that Brighter Signals were reliably and repeatably able to detect and classify the occupant of the seat for different participants, over several test poses. 

 

“It was great to get such a clear endorsement that the technology is so much better than all the alternatives. We have been working with BMW already for 5 years and they are calling our technology a Paradigm shift. The integration stage is now ongoing and ensuring we can deliver at scale” says Andrew Klein, CEO of Brighter Signals. “We will have a car seat demo at the In-Cabin event so people can come and experience the technology for themselves. Precise Sensing for Effortless Parking

The Parking Assist System (PAS) application is enabled by Calterah Dubhe 2T4R UWB SoC—CAL1106AQ, the world’s first UWB chip to implement the Sensing technology defined by IEEE 802.15.4ab. It delivers centimeter-level height measurement, precise velocity sensing, and stable performances even in harsh weather, while supporting the reuse of digital key car anchors to improve cost efficiency of automotive UWB systems.With a range of technical innovations, Calterah has tackled real-world challenges of deploying UWB PAS radar:

The Dubhe chip offers an innovative Radar Leakage Suppression (RLS) module and a 2T4R architecture, to solve the challenges of height measurement and hanging object detection;

The Fine Timing technology and multi-channel advantages ensure concurrent operation of ranging and radar functions, enabling real-time sensing and precise positioning at high vehicle speeds;

As the world’s first to implement the IEEE 802.15.4ab-defined Sensing technology, the UWB chip enables precise multi-anchor synchronization and scheduling, significantly reducing inter-anchor interference. Under the bi-static radar mode, the chip achieves centimeter-level accuracy in static target detection, meeting the stringent requirements of UN Regulation No.158.

Two Innovative Technologies Addressing the Evolving Requirements of Euro NCAP 2026 Safe Driving Protocols and Beyond

The first demonstration highlights Magna’s sensor fusion technology.  Attendees will experience how their integrated system combines multiple sensor modalities including camera, radar, and perception software, to improve robustness of key features such as occupant detection, stature classification, out-of-position occupant alerts, and driver distraction monitoring, all aimed at creating a safer driving environment.

The second demonstration features Magna’s mirror-integrated dual camera solution combining two wide field-of-view cameras within a traditional rearview mirror to provide a uniquely comprehensive view of the vehicle interior.

The upper camera monitors the driver and occupants throughout the first and rear rows, while the downward-facing camera provides premium visibility of the dashboard, steering wheel, and occupants’ stature. Together, they enable a broad range of safety and convenience features, including driver monitoring, occupant detection, seatbelt detection, advanced phone use detection, out-of-position occupant alerts, all from a single integrated module that simplifies vehicle integration and design.
