Our trip to Hefei, near Shanghai, in November last year was intense, eventful, exciting and fascinating. Our first event in China, more than 6 years in the making was a huge success, in both obvious and subtle ways.
After a trip in June to meet with local suppliers, partners and government officials, all the investments in building the relationships we knew were going to be important in making a big impact in year one paid off with a very strong turnout at the conference and VIP activities the day prior.
Â
The Chinese market continues to diverge from Europe and US in particular, and in many ways to leads the way for these two incumbent automotive manufacturing hubs. The speed of growth and technology deployment in China quite simply enables companies there to move faster, and counterparts in the rest of the works risk getting left behind.
Â
Nowhere is this more evident than inside the cabin of new mid and premium level cars from the leading Chinese OEMs. When you ride around in these vehicles, even those at relatively budget price points, you feel like you are engaging with the latest consumer technology. The level of equipment in general exceeds what you would expect in similar vehicles in Europe or the US.
Â
It’s one of the reasons we have chosen to add the InCabin event alongside AutoSens this year in Hefei, bringing our China event in line with the existing co-locations in Barcelona and Detroit. Bigger is not better – better is better, but we believe that embracing the engineering community who have driven this rapid evolution of cabin technology in the Chinese market will add huge value not just for our event in China, but also for the global InCabin community.
Â
InCabin in Hefei this year will have its own exhibition zone, separate conference tracks, and its own identity, while InCabin attendees and AutoSens attendees will mix freely onsite as they do at our other co-located events.
Â
We have seen 1+1=3 in our other geographies, and can’t wait to see the outcomes from supporting the engineers and innovators working on interior and exterior sensing for ADAS and autonomy via our unique event format.
