At InCabin Europe 2025, OMNIVISION will reinforce its leadership in automotive imaging with groundbreaking innovations that are shaping the future of ADAS, autonomous driving, and in-cabin safety. From launching the world’s first 5MP RGB-IR and monochrome global shutter HDR CMOS sensor to introducing compact and efficient driver monitoring solutions, OMNIVISION is raising the bar for performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability.

In this exclusive Q&A, OMNIVISION shares insights on its journey to becoming the world’s No. 1 automotive imaging supplier, the secret behind its market-leading 8MP sensor, and how it is preparing for upcoming industry regulations.

Q1. What is new in 2025 for OMNIVISION?

A: In 2025, OMNIVISION introduced several innovations that significantly enhance the
performance of our flagship image sensors. One of our newest advancements includes a
new 5MP RGB-IR and monochrome global shutter HDR CMOS sensor, which significantly
outperforms its predecessor (OX05B) by being the industry’s first to combine true global
shutter and HDR functionality in a single device. Designed specifically for challenging in
cabin environments with big illumination differences in the front versus the back seat rows
and challenging dynamic lighting scenarios, such as direct sunlight alongside deep
shadows, it greatly improves image quality by addressing common issues like overexposure
and underexposure. With built-in RGB-IR image processing on-chip, it simplifies system
design while reducing cost. Moreover, this integration frees up the main processor to
handle other ADAS functions.

Q2: According to the latest market research, OMNIVISION is now the No. 1 global supplier in the automotive imaging market. What is your secret?

A: In fact, our focus on this field started over 20 years ago, and we have continued to invest
and innovate ever since. Our product portfolio covers ADAS, AD, viewing, in-cabin and
ASIC/ISP solutions, offering a truly comprehensive portfolio. We also bring cutting-edge
technologies from our other segments—such as mobile, security, and emerging
applications—into automotive. On the customer side, we are committed to responsive
support and close collaboration, ensuring our partners can always count on us. Moving
forward, we will continue leveraging these strengths to drive the next wave of innovation in
automotive imaging.ions.

Q3: I’ve heard that one of OMNIVISION’s sensors has become the main choice in the mid-to-high-end market. As the Product Marketing Manager for this chip, how has it achieved such success and market acceptance?

A: Yes, what you’re referring to is our OX08D10, which is widely recognized as the best
performing 8MP automotive-grade sensor worldwide. Building on its success, we are about
to launch two upgraded products based on it. Through ongoing conversations with our
customers, we’ve identified several common challenges in real-world applications, such
as insufficient low-light performance, limitations in single-exposure dynamic range when
facing bright LED light sources, the need for higher frame rates with effective motion blur
mitigation, and constraints on size and power consumption. By listening closely to our
customers’ needs, we’ve developed enhanced 8MP image sensors that not only maintain
leadership in low-light perception capability, size, and power efficiency, but also deliver
next-generation LFM and HDR performance—providing even better imaging solutions for
ADAS, AD and other challenging automotive applications.
