InCabin USA 2026 was so much fun but of course we have to also be productive, here is what “Productive” looked like for the attendees, exhibitors and Sponsors. Thank-you Tobii for being our Founding Partner, who prioritizes a happy InCabin Community!
Here are a few key takeaways:
1. AI is being used for personalized alerts or contextually informed agents.
2. Companies like Waymo are investigating new interior sensing modalities.
3. Scale is a hot topic as many technologies are newly going into production – a few quick notes:
- voltai– scale design of boards – AI to sync all your datasheets and guide you during the board design to meet the requirements and make fewer mistakes
- Yasp– scale the software integrations both internally and with your partners for production
- SDVerse– scale sales and the feedback loop with customers — marketplace for where OEMs shop for automotive software
4. Bose, Tymphany, Aptiv, Syntiant, GPU Audio, and Cirrus Logic were engaged in the show with Roundtables, car demos, private loud room demos, presentations, and chats around the exhibition floor about all the good ways the audio people are coming together with DMS/OMS and external sensing demands/context. We’ll see the audio companies next at AES July 29 -31 in Detroit! – AES Automotive Audio Conference 2026
5. The well-reviewed startup pitch session was new this year & dominated by in-cabin tech.
- CorrActions, Brighter Signals, and Retrospect walked away with the awards
- We were proud to have a genuinely excellent panel – Susan Shaw, Lead UX Researcher from Ford, Darby Hadley, retired audio expert and Freshwater Angels investor, & Robin Jenkin, Distinguished Engineer from NVIDIA
- FOMO Moment: Jenny singing and dancing while the judges deliberated
6. Impairment detection was a huge topic, many companies across the supply chain now have impairment on their roadmap. We started with a Roundtable session hosted by Becky Iannotta and Stephanie Manning from MADD, and Laura McGowan, host of Inside Information- https://podcast.tweddle.com/. The table was busy with the right people from the industry and resulted in a useful and collaborative discussion.
In early June 2026, the funding to implement the HALT act in the US has retroactively been stripped. This means that the regulatory landscape in the US for impairment is still very much being formed. If this impacts your company now is the time to start understanding how, and what you can do. MADD is a good place to start with your questions: https://madd.org/HALT/
Looking Ahead
The in-cabin technology industry is scaling for production, consolidating DMS, partnering, fusing modalities, reacting to regulatory implementations and updates, and having a really fun and effective time collaborating. We’ll be publishing more industry analysis and updates in the lead-up to Barcelona this September and China this November. Let’s keep these conversations going.
